This startup sector still gets plenty of VC money

Hi, Didong. Venture funding may be seasonal, but investor interest in startups working on climate change issues is apparently perennial. In just the past year, more than half a billion dollars has gone to dozens of startups working on technologies to reduce industrial carbon emissions, store captured CO2, and navigate the complex landscape of carbon credits.

🏭 Carbon capture startups capture plenty of funding

Most startups these days are struggling to get VCs’ attention. But there’s plentiful capital for companies involved in capturing and storing atmospheric carbon and industrial waste. The companies on our list have raised at least $1.25 billion in funding to date, per Crunchbase data.

📉 Startup funding in Asia goes down, down, down

Funding to startups in Asia in the first half of 2023 dropped 50% from the previous year — spurred on by fewer large, late rounds, and mirroring the global venture market.
